SGI will gladly sell you a copy of IRIX 6.5 for US$600.00. Their license agreement forbids the resale of the OS media unless it is in the presence of a computer, so purchasing a second-hand copy is technically illegal. If you anticipate needing the OS media, try to get a copy when you buy the machine.
