I performed two upgrades between then and 2010: 1. swap the ram for 4x512MB, and 2. replace the V6 with the V8 graphics configuration. Everything worked flawlessly until I put it to sleep in the attic, around 2016. Today I came around to switching it on once again and noticed the following: -the power supply made abuzz sound and the machine did not start up. Apparently this once needs a replacement. \- I went to my fathers home and picked a black handlebar psu from there - replaced it - and connected the 13w3-vga cable to my Dell 19 inch monitor. \- connected a ps/2 keyboard, no mouse (I don't have ps/2 mice anymore)

I'd love to have some guidance or pointers regarding the following: \- is it safe to run the late model Octane with the old psu at all ? I am asking because I noticed warm air coming out of the ventialtion compartment, and I cannot remember quite how it used to be before \- does anyone have an idea why the screen blacked out ?
